«Explication
de Texte» ————————————————————————————————————————— “Explication de texte” is composed of drawings and sculptural installations, created throughout 2007 – 2008. Because it focuses on the artist’s drawings, the exhibition may be viewed as an impartial and broad unveiling of Doering’s theoretical concerns and personal experiences. Doering’s particular style of drawing has earned her recognition in the USA and in Europe: it is derived from a filmic perspective, one in which action is often presented without the qualification/circumscription of actor/s. Her style is essentially, and importantly, related to a widely exhibited body of her works (www.messagefield.com), in progress since 2004, wherein she designs and builds apparatuses that enable the wind and other elements of the kinetic natural environment to make drawings. As part of the “explication de texte,” examples of these originary drawings will be shown, along with other material and modes of viewing that serve as diagnostic devices on thematic and theoretical points of reference. The exhibition serves as a pre/text for discovering macro alignments of histories (politics, identity), scientific properties (radio, alchemy), and the physical claims that nature makes regarding human existence and perception.
