my latest works I have been occupied with the choice of viewpoint. Choosing a viewpoint suggests that we are located at a point, a spot from where we observe the subject of representation. Apparently, it is we, the viewers with the eyes of the artist, observing the other. I am particularly interested in the viewpoint that diminishes the distance between the viewer and the subject. I especially want to research the possibility of the viewer becoming part of the composition, once he is identified completely with the artist and the artist’s point of view. Another question that reappears constantly in my works is: what is worthwhile putting on a canvas? Does an absolutely trifle or even more an ungracious subject deserve to become an artwork and can it be transformed into something beautiful? This endeavor is obvious in works as “Public Lavatory Blues”, “Love Conquers Everything” |
